PTO: Parent Teacher Organization

About the PTO:

Northern Heights PTO - About Us

The Northern Heights Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a vital part of our school community. The PTO organizes events, provides resources to teachers & staff, and advocates for initiatives that benefit our school. Whether you're looking to volunteer, share your ideas, or simply stay informed about what's happening in your child's classroom and beyond — the PTO is open to everyone. Every voice matters, and every helping hand makes a difference.

We want to engage our students, families and community members in visioning and planning, decision-making, communication, activities and events. This results in a better educational experience for all of our local children. This is a fundamental belief represented in The Bellingham Promise, the strategic plan that our community built together.

From family fun nights, book fairs, guest speakers, and teacher-staff appreciation activities to school-wide celebrations and enrichment programs, we help organize events to not only build community and learning (for both children and parents alike) but also create memorable experiences for students and families.

We rely on volunteers to make these programs possible! Whether you have an hour to spare or want to take on a larger role, there’s a place for you in our school community and the PTO is your hub! Everyone is welcome at our monthly meetings to participate, share ideas, and stay informed about what’s happening at school. Your involvement helps shape our positive school environment.

In addition to organizing events and holding monthly meetings, the PTO plays a crucial role in fundraising to support initiatives beyond the school’s base budget. Funds raised by the PTO help provide teacher stipends for classroom activities (beyond basic supplies), field trips, parent education classes, enrichment scholarships, assemblies, and other enhancements that directly benefit students and teachers.

Join us in building a vibrant, inclusive school environment where students thrive and families feel connected. Get involved, stay engaged, and help us make our school the best it can be!

Northern Heights PTO - Connections

Our monthly All Are Welcome PTO Meetings for 2025-2026 are on the third Thursday of most months, from 5:30 - 6:30 in the Northern Heights library. We often have treats to snack and sip on, so please don't let hunger deter you from joining. We'd love to see more faces and hear more voices!

If you'd like to know more, join the board, or otherwise just connect with the PTO or its board members, please email us at NorthernHeightsPTO@gmail.com and we'll invite you to our slack channel for the latest updates and happenings.
